Construction Works

Construction Works – investing in our school and future

St James’ Kotara South will be impacted by construction works in the coming months that will see changes to our transport management and school grounds access.

What is happening?

  • Construction is planned to commence Monday 11 March, with a new 79 place St Nicholas Early Education Centre being built in our school precinct.
  • In parallel to this construction, new road access and a permanent kiss and drop area will enhance our school traffic management in the future. It is anticipated the construction will be completed in preparation for the 2025 school year.
  • Further investment in our school community will see additional construction and refurbishment of St James’. We’re excited to have building works commence in late 2024 for a new Learning Hub and six new general learning areas, and look forward to sharing more information about this soon.

How are we minimising disruption?

We understand these temporary changes can be inconvenient, but we are working to find the most appropriate solutions and minimise disruption wherever possible.

To support our families with pick up and drop-offs, we will have two options for students to access our school, during this period of construction.

Option A: A new kiss and drop process will be implemented on Princeton Avenue.

Option B: An additional parking area will be established at Nesbitt Park on Grayson Avenue. This area near the park will be used, as our school community has previously, to park for school pick up and drop off.

Please see the map for additional information.

During the majority of the construction works, Vista Parade will be reduced to one-lane for traffic and we will continue to keep you updated about this timing.

What’s next?

There are a number of stages to these building works as we invest in our school community.

We look forward to sharing more information about our new Learning Hub and school upgrades in the coming months.

We will continue to provide regular updates leading into this first stage of the construction work.

Thank you for your understanding.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this temporary time of change in our school traffic management procedures.

The new facilities and infrastructure will improve both St James’ traffic management and our whole school environment for our students and families.

These temporary arrangements aim to keep our students and school community safe during this period.
